How to get to Capurgana:
Here you can find some useful information to make your trip to Capurgana easier. Keep in mind that Bahia Lodge is not a travel agency, we neither book your flights nor make travel reservations.
Overseas connection:
Overseas connection is often easier by Panama City. International flights to Panama City, then national flight to Puerto Obaldia with Flyairpanama.com (1 h, approx. 81 US $ one way - sundays - tuesdays and thursdays). From Puerto Obaldia to Capurgana by Boat (½ hora, approx. 10 US $ one way). By advice we provide a pick-up service at Puerto Obaldia. The immigration office in Panama requests the ´Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever´ when you reenter the country from Colombia.
National Flight connections within Colombia:
MEDELLIN got a daily flight connection from and to Capurgana. You can make your reservation online at ADA - Aerolínea De Antioquia
(approx. 1 h, 295.000 COP one way).
As well there are charter flights to Capurgana, mainly in the high season. Offered by the company OXCI, at Hangar 50 of the airport Olaya Herrera in Medellin - Tel. (4)285 83 29, Capurgana - Tel. 312 242 6112.
MEDELLIN: There is a second option from Medellin, a flight connection to Acandi on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can make your reservation online at ADA - Aerolínea De Antioquia (approx. 1 h, 230.000 COP one way). From Acandi your trip will continue by boat as described further down. This trip can be made in one day, as the flight and boat schedule do match.
BOGOTA got a daily flights connection from and to Medellin, but no flight connection to Capurgana. You can make your reservation online on the web pages of AIRES - Aerolínea (recommendable) or Satena - Aerolínea.
BOGOTA: From Bogota there is a daily flight connection to Apartado (approx. 200.000 COP one way). You can make your reservation online: AIRES - Aerolínea (recommendable) or Satena - Aerolínea. From Apartado there are Taxi services to Turbo (approx. ½ hora, 10.000 COP one way). From Turbo your trip will continue by boat as described further down. Please note that this trip cannot be made in one day, as the flight and boat schedule do not match. You have to stay overnight either in Apartado or in Turbo on both ways. But this alternative can save you up to 50 % of what you pay for your flight tickets. Flight connection from Bogota via Medellin to Capurgana can be done in 1 day.
There are several Hotels in Turbo, as the Hotel Aquarius (good and not expensive) Tel. 827 43 32 or the Hotel Almirante Jose Tel. 827 25 76.
National road and sea connections within Colombia:
The road connection ends in Turbo, from there you only can continue your trip to Capurgana by speed boat.
MEDELLIN: From Medellin to Turbo you have all day long bus connections provided by four different companies such as Gomez Hernandez Tel. 230 31 84 or Sotrauraba Tel. 230 96 96, as well as chaired door to door taxi services. Buses are leaving from the ´Terminal Norte´ (approx. 8 h, 45.000 COP bus fare one way / approx. 7 h, 60.000 COP taxi fare one way).
MONTERIA: You reach Turbo from Monteria by the chaired taxi service Sotracor at the bus terminal, Tel. 312 653 73 34 (approx. 4 h, 35.000 COP one way)
TURBO got a daily speed boat connection to Capurgana. In the low season there is just one boat per day, but in the high season there are several boats leaving. All of them leave in the morning time between 8 and 9 A.M. Reservations can be made under Tel. 312 701 98 39 or on the day of departure in the early morning between 6 and 7 A.M. at the pier (approx. 2 ½ h, 49.000 COP one way)
Please inform the captain to drop you at the Bahia Aguacate, which is one stop prior Capurgana.

ACANDI got a daily boat connection to Capurgana. Leaving from Capurgana to Acandi at 7.30 A.M. and from Acandi to Capurgana at 1 P.M. Reservations can be made under Tel. 314 614 07 04. (approx. ¾ h, 15.000 COP one way)
Please inform the captain to drop you at the Bahia Aguacate, which is one stop prior Capurgana.
All transportation in Capurgana are done by horse coaches and bicycles.
Arrival by sailing boat:
Between the months of May and October you have excellent weather conditions, which allows you to drop anchor in the bay of Aguacate, which is just 5 min. walking distance from Bahia Lodge.
In the rest of the year the weather and sea conditions are not in favor to drop anchor in Aguacate, but in the bay of Sapzurro, where we can pick you up with our own motor boat.
